VK Civil participated at the career fair hosted by Calvin University. This event offered an invaluable platform to be introduced to students, reconnect with professors that taught many at VK Civil, as well as share our values and what we do. Students were eager to learn about the municipal and private development services VK Civil offers and explore career opportunities within our organization. Many students resonated with VK Civil’s core values of Excellence, A Well Lived Life, Others As Ourselves, and Stewardship. Students were also enthusiastic about many of our community-centered projects. Thank you Calvin University and all those [...]
VK Civil was a platinum sponsor of the 2023 AIA (American Institute of Architects) Northern Indiana Golf Outing in South Bend Indiana. The weather was perfect for an afternoon of camaraderie and friendly competition on the golf course. At the VK Civil hole, players had the opportunity to roll a giant die for some fun prizes, while also competing to be the one closest to the pin. The event was a platform for fostering connections, building relationships, and strengthening the bonds of the Northern Indiana AIA community. Participants had the chance to interact with industry leaders, exchange ideas, and [...]
June 2 was the grand opening of the splash pad at Caledonia’s Community Green Park. Bringing the community together in celebration, marking the beginning of a summer filled with laughter and cherished moments for all who visit. VK Civil was delighted to partner with EV Construction to add the splash pad to the park’s array of recreational offerings. This intentionally low-key design was built to fit within a natural park setting and the inclusive space allows residents of all ages to beat the summer heat while fostering community bonding and well-being. Plan your visit to the splash pad at [...]
I (Dan) was tempted to make the title “VK Civil Grows in Height and Capacity”. We recently added two new team members to our private development team. They happen to be the tallest members in the private development team picture below. Collin Wilson joins us as an EIT (Engineer in Training) with 3 years of experience in private development design. Josh Renkema joins us as a CAD operator. Their experience, skills, and commitment to excellence align seamlessly with our vision. The private development team also includes engineers Colin Finch, Zach Boeve, Aaron Van Proyen, and Dan Lewis as well [...]
VK Civil recently had the privilege of attending the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Viking Stadium at Niles High School. VK was hired by CARMI Design Group to assist with the civil engineering design of a new track and artificial turf football field. The project turned out great and the first sporting event happened on the field right after the celebration. Congrats to Niles on your new track and field!
Dan Lewis had the pleasure of presenting “Civil Engineering Site Selection Considerations” to the American Institute of Architect’s Southwest Michigan Branch recently. Custer hosted the presentation from their beautiful offices on the 15th Floor of the Exchange Building in downtown Kalamazoo. The views were awesome! If your architectural firm would like more information on this subject, we are happy to come to your office and present directly to your staff. These presentations are eligible for 1 hour of educational credit. Just contact Dan Lewis at firstname.lastname@example.org to set something up.
We are very excited to announce the addition of Zach Boeve to our private development design team. Zach comes to us with 7 years of experience engineering private site development projects. Welcome aboard Zach! The private development team also includes engineers Dan Lewis, Colin Finch, and Aaron Van Proyen as well as CAD operators Nicole French and Quel Shannon. We are thankful for the growth and the many clients we have the privilege to serve. The Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) is helping to address drinking water infrastructure needs throughout Michigan with the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) loan program. The DWSRF program is designed to assist water suppliers in satisfying requirements of the Safe Drinking Water Act and improving drinking water quality by offering low-interest loans. Water suppliers who own either a community water supply or a non-community water supply that operates as a non-profit (which typically would need to bond through another eligible entity) can qualify to receive DWSRF assistance. Qualified water suppliers may apply to borrow [...]
