This year marks another step in VK Civil’s steady growth with three new engineers as of the time of writing this article.
After interning at VK during the fall of 2024, Daniel Oyer has been hired as a full-time engineer-in-training. Daniel is originally from Northwest Ohio, and moved to Michigan to attend Calvin University, where he graduated this past spring with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. He excelled in math and science growing up, which inevitably led him to consider engineering as a career path. He will joining our municipal team, both in the planning process and in the field during construction. Daniel is excited to learn more about the wide variety of projects VK has a hand in and ask a lot of questions to grow his knowledge in civil engineering.
Cole Zagrzebski joined the VK Civil team as an engineer-in-training in February of this year. Cole graduated from Western Michigan University (WMU) in Spring 2024 and came to VK with almost 2 years of experience working on private development projects. His skills include developing stormwater management, grading, and utility plans in AutoCAD Civil3D for all types of projects, and a bit of project management expertise to go along with his knowledge. Cole says he was particularly drawn to VK because of our company culture that puts employees first and emphasizes a Well-Lived Life. He is also excited by the opportunity for growth at VK. Being surrounded by so many professional engineers with diverse and lengthy career experiences is of great benefit to Cole as he seeks to grow as a young professional. Outside of work Cole is a true outdoorsman. He loves bowhunting and participating in bass fishing tournaments. We are excited about Cole’s arrival and can’t wait to see him grow and thrive!
Grant Braun joined us in July of this year. Grant is also a WMU graduate and comes to us with 3 years of experience on private development projects. He brings with him experience and skill within site development for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Grants passion for civil engineering began to grow early in his life working at his father’s road construction and site development company. This hands-on experience gave him valuable insight that has helped him in his engineering duties. Grant says that learning of VK’s core values and mission are what led him to accept his current role, as he felt he would fit right in. He is currently an engineer-in-training but plans to take the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam this winter to become a licensed professional engineer. Grant and the rest of the team are excited to see him expand his knowledge and grow in his career at VK!
As VK Civil continues to grow and bring on new members of the team, we stay committed to our core values of Excellence, a Well-Lived Life, Others as Ourselves, and Stewardship. These new team members expand our capacity to serve municipal and private development clients. Contact us today if you need civil engineering assistance
