VK Civil was asked to design and construct a 3/4 mile 10-foot wide asphalt bike path, including storm and drainage improvements, driveway reconstruction, hydrant relocations, and the reconstruction of an existing path.
This project was funded by MDOT Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP). MDOT TAP funding requires that the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) review and clear the project. Adherence to MDOT construction practices, pay items, review and all easement procurement had to follow Uniform Condemnation Procedures Act.
The site also featured low/wet areas, poor soils and existing utilities.
