Jeff Gritter has spent the past ten years of his long and successful career at VK Civil, and that is cause for celebration! VK has seen major growth since Jeff’s introduction to the company, and his work has greatly impacted the communities VK serves.

Jeff’s professional career began nineteen years before he joined VK Civil at the Kent County Drain Commission, where he served Kent County for four years. He then took a position as a staff engineer for Gaines Township, faithfully serving Gaines for fifteen years until he joined VK. While holding these positions, Jeff gained experience in the design and construction of stormwater, public water, and public sewer systems, as well as the design of pathways and sidewalks, city planning and zoning processes, and township administration practices. Safe to say, he joined the VK team with a wealth of knowledge and expertise!

Being known in the community and having connections with local companies and engineers, Jeff got to know VK’s founders, Nate and Rod, well during Jeff’s time at Gaines because Rod and Nate served as Gaines Township’s consulting engineers. He was struck by their unique passion and ability to meet the needs of their clients. After Rod’s death, VK Civil had a significant need for a client manager. Jeff’s role at Gaines and his significant involvement in Byron Township that included chairing the Planning Commission made him the perfect fit. Jeff decided to make the move to VK Civil where he could continue to serve Gaines and also assist many more communities with his expertise.

He officially joined VK Civil in October of 2015 as a client manager. Jeff currently serves as the engineer for Byron Township and Gaines Township. He also mentors all the municipal engineers at VK Civil, so his knowledge and understanding helps all VK Civil’s client communities.

When questioned about what sets VK Civil apart from other companies, Jeff said VK’s tight-knit family culture is the first thing that comes to mind, along with shared values and interests and great people and clients. His comments about the VK Civil work environment reflect one of our core principles: A Well Lived Life.

Jeff especially enjoys working on projects that focus on community enrichment, including new sidewalks and pathways that connect residents to their community. His zeal for helping clients and communities in this way gets to the heart of VK Civil’s purpose which is to “Glorify God” through “Designing Communities that Thrive.”

Though his career in engineering has lasted over twenty-nine years, Jeff has not slowed down and continues to deliver with integrity. We are very thankful for his time at VK, and there are many clients who appreciate and value his work. Join us in congratulating Jeff Gritter for ten years of amazing service with VK Civil!
